One of the things I've been thinking about lately is how good we are at fighting with ourselves.
Talking ourselves out of the things we know are good for us.
Telling ourselves that we can't.
That we don't know how.
Justifying...
"When I have this much more money, then I'll start my dream business."
Brokering out our responsibility for our lives...
"If my spouse says its ok, then I'll sign up for this program."
Avoiding...
"Maybe someday I'll figure out what I want to do with my life."
Going with the flow...
"My boss says I'm good at this, so I guess it's what I'm supposed to continue to do."
All of these things are defensive patterns.
They're your EGO at work, doing what it does best.
KEEPING YOU SAFE AND THE SAME.
Your ego wants you to stay exactly where you are because it knows what to expect right now.
Lets be honest though, you don't want to just stay where you are forever.
I know because I've talked to people like you.
People who want more.
People who are called to more.
People who, like you, are good at what they do.
They have "success", but what good is success if you're continually questioning if you even want it?!
Like you, their ego works REALLY HARD to convinve them to stay put.
ON THE FENCE OF THEIR LIFE.
Look, the fence is costing you your fulfillment.
The fence is keeping you out of your power.
The fence has you struggling. Overwhelmed. Stuck.
The fence is where your self-protective EGO patterns screw themselves into the existing life you have and you get CEMENTED INTO STUCKNESS...
Your ego LOVES the fence.
You could stay there forever.
No, legit... you could.
And you will unless you choose to jump over the fence.
It's a different kind of battle. Instead of a battle where you continually give your power away and fight to stay small and run from your fear (although it doesn't always feel like running cause the justification game is strong), it's a new battle.
IT'S A STEP THROUGH THE FEAR AND TELL YOUR EGO TO SUCK IT KIND OF BATTLE.
You're going to have to break some rules. Ok a lot of rules.
You're going to have to learn to think differently.
You're going to have to let go of things to let the new in.
And lets just call a spade a spade here. You're going to have to put your money where your mouth is.
Yup, going there.
This is the number 1 resistance pattern I see in people "ready" to level up. They aren't willing to choose themselves and they wrap a money story around it.
"I can't afford to hire help."
"I can't afford a coach."
"I can't afford...... [insert list of reasons here]"
BULLSHIT.
You know what you can't afford?
To stay where you are.
To avoid the life you're called to.
You know what you can't afford?
Leaving an example for your kids of anything less than stepping up and making an impact.
Letting your fear keep the world from the benefit of what you have to offer.
You know what you can't afford?
Landing in the hospital because the overwhelm gets so bad that your body gives in.
It's not a money issue - it's fear. And ego knows how to use that money narrative to keep you small.
THERE IS NO WAY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH THAT I WILL STAND BY AND ENABLE THAT.
I'm a firm believer in stewarding our finances well, being intentional about what we invest in, and understanding your budget. 100% yes.
AND, you're worth more than the physical stuff you spend money on. The cars, the nail appointments, the dinners out, the brand name hoodies... it's all stuff.
But you. You are God-sent and God-purposed.
You are powerful and called.
That is worth letting go of something to get out of your own way.
And that is not work we do alone. Believe me I know.
(Plus, there is an abundance on the other side of it in so many forms. God has a way of working this stuff out).
